Getting ready to hit the road!
I love these old travel movies that would try to inspire people to travel across the U.S. to experience its people and locations. I don’t think we look at our country as a travel destination like we use to. There are so many great destinations in this country and soo much history waiting to be rediscovered. Mel and I have been talking for sometime about going to the Grand Canyon. I have wanted to see this tourist destination for a long time. Anyways, I hope these make you think of travels right here in our own country. Enjoy!

Aww, these films are so darn sweet. First thing I noted was that great green Chevy in the 1st picture! My mom’s first boyfriend (after the big “D”) had a brand spanking new one just like it! And boy-oh-boy did we think he was a high-roller! And (ha-ha) he kinda was! I digress. The second thing that blew me away was the beautiful wooden boat in the second film! Wow! I remember cruising Lake Tahoe with my uncle in his. Those things are rare beauties these days. And I totally agree on the whole travel thing. I really have not much desire to go abroad (except to Ireland maybe). I’ve always yearned to see our own country which I’ve not seen enough of. We have such a rich, albiet comparibly young, history. It’s funny, like you also, I have been thinking so strongly about getting to the Grand Canyon. It’s a fairly feasible trip (by car cause I can’t fly) so it may be in the near future. Heck, EVERYTHING has to be in the near future at my age!!! I want to see all the places our founding fathers were and some of the southern states (although I’m not sure I could bear the civil war battle fields) and my most hearts desire – the Lincoln Memorial. I want to see JFK’s & MLK’S gravesites & pay homage to two of the greatest men in modern history, and at least one magnificant National Park. Michael will be retiring in about a year & our plan is to hitch up a trailer, pack up the puppies, map our route and get the heck out of Dodge! Nuther great job Hepcat. You bring me such lovely thoughts and memories. Thanks :- )

And BTW – DO NOT wait till you’re old & decrepit to do it! Do it now if you can & enjoy your country along with your youth!

Well THANK YOU kiddo for your kind words. I worry about being pesty. Nothing worse than a blabbering old woman (I remember those too!) either knowing everything or having done everything. It can be tiresome I know. I’ve tried staying away a day or two here & there but when I come back I can’t resist making up for lost time! Haha! So I guess you’re stuck with me because how can I resist such great entertainment?! (It’s all your fault ;- )

All I can say is “LET’S GO”! Even though we lived in AZ for some time we NEVER went to the Grand Canyon. Wouldn’t it be fun to take 2 cars and caravan? We should go when the weather is not too hot… I will ping Mel about it… I seriously need a vaca! Cheers!

Wouldn’t that be great! I will one day but with Mel’s new position I don’t think we will have time for some time. The Grand Canyon is on my “Bucket List” and I will see it.
