After a full day of shopping we found some really great treasures, most notable is the Heywood Wakefield “Rio” style vanity in the Champagne finish. What draws me to this style of Heywood Wakefield are the drawer pulls. I love the “x’s”! This line of Heywood Wakefield was only made from 1943-1944. This will need to be refinished but I have refinished Heywood Wakefield before and it is not a big deal.
As usual Mel and I found more lamps we could not live one more second without…

We found these Heifetz Lamps at an antique store on Auburn Blvd. These would look great next to some black frame Carlo’s. They will require refinishing as well.

Here is a 1951 Reglor lamp. It appears to be a gypsy. It has the original shade and finial. I have a real weakness for Reglor lamps.

Mel and I finally bit the bullet and purchased this tv lamp. This for me is holy grail of tv lamps. This was made by Lane as well. It’s HUGE!
Whoa! Some seriously good finds there! I’m assuming you were Antique Shopping versus Thrifting? If you were thrifting I’m super jealous of your area thrift stores! I’ve been sorely disappointed lately with my thrifting, so this is cool stuff to see!

Yeah..we used my birthday as an excuse to go antiquing and to finally pick up some pieces I’ve been eye balling all year. These were all personal collection finds vs. stuff to flip. I agree, we have been disappointed with thrifting as well..also with Craigslist. All the regular spots are getting over-picked so Mel and I have to travel farther away to go picking.

I love those black lamps! I picked up one of those about 15 years ago at a garage sale for 50 cents. It had a small piece of a sticker from the manufacturer on it, but not enough to make out who made it. Mine is a blonde finish, and it was so bad that it was flaking off in several places. I stripped it down and refinished it in a clear lacquer without any stain (the wood is a beautiful color) and polished the brass tube. I now use it in the bedroom with my Heywood-Wakefield bedroom set (which was also an incredible deal!).

50 cents!!! Also, an awesome deal on Heywood!! Can we go shopping with you? I’m thinking of 2 toning the lamps-natural and black.

You will probably kill me for saying this – but I picked up my Heywood-Wakefield bedroom set (bed, dresser with mirror, and chest of drawers in the Encore line) at the estate auction of a lady from my church. My neighbor wanted the mattress set that came with it, which I got $50 out of, so my final price on the whole set was $170. Right now, it has a good home in a spare bedroom at my parent’s house with the lamp I mentioned above. We painted the room turquoise, and it really makes the furniture pop!

Awesome!!! It’s always great to hear about people getting fantastic deals like this when they are keeping pieces for their personal collection.

And so the new bedroom begins. And a great start it is. I can so see the adorable Mz. Kitty primping her beautiful self at that vanity (you simply MUST find her a Jean Harlow lounging gown Hepcat ;- )

I have a Heywood Wakefield Rio bedroom set that is missing the original cross drawer pulls. Do you have any idea where I could get replacements?
