The stools and the bar still have their original tags.

I love that these stools have backrests. I plan to reupholster the stools in the same fabric as our 6 band rattan set. I will drop them off at B&T upholstery tomorrow.

The top of the bar has a simple black Formica that I am not too keen on. I plan to buy some vintage postcards from Hawaii and cover the top in a collage of them under glass. I think this will give the bar a really cool effect.

Once everything is refinished I will move it into our Tiki room and post pictures. We Also found a set of really cool diamond shaped tropical Carlos that will be coming in the mail soon, a 3 piece set! The room is really coming together.

  1. Two of the tables that belong to my set of rattan furniture (a huge corner table and a small kidney-shaped coffee table) have the original black formica tops. The tops of the rest of the tables that belong to the set are inlaid Philippine mahogany. The set was purchased in Pasadena 2nd hand by my parents in the early ’50’s. I even have the original manufacturer’s sales catalog and the sales receipts. There was a separate receipt for the Gill paintings I sent you pictures of.

  2. Love that bar and stools! We don’t have much of that available here in the midwest, where we spend so much time indoors 😦 I cannot wait to see yours when you are done with them!
