A. Brandt Ranch Oak Roundup!

IMG_6951

I was surfing Craigslist as usual when I came across a posting for a large set of A. Brandt Ranch Oak. The set included a table, 9 chairs, mirror, 2 end tables and two table lamps. Then, a couple of days later I found someone selling a dresser with mirror.

I posted about A. Brandt Ranch Oak a little while back (link). Ranch Oak was produced from the 1930’s-1970’s. I am such a fan of this western themed furniture. I love the chunky hand scraped look of these pieces and the white furniture wax buildup that was intentionally applied to create the pickled effect.

What I love about this furniture is that it is solid oak. Because of it being solid, when it gets a scratch, I just have to sand it and refinish. The dining and end table tops need to be refinished, but nothing major.

This table expands to a tremendous length when you pull the extensions out on each end.

I love the handles carved out on the chairs.

I ordered some pickling wax to refinish all these pieces. It appears to be a straight forward process that I will blog about once I receive the wax.

Here is a grainy illustrated image of the table out of the brochure:

This furniture will be around for many years to come because it was built to last. No IKEA particle board here! I was told by a friend of ours that the actress Diane Keaton has a huge collection of Ranch Oak, but I haven’t been able to substantiate that information. Now I am on the hunt for additional pieces!
