Some Odds And Ends That We Forgot To Share…

Mel and I are always on the hunt for cool things and sometimes we forget to share our finds with our readers. We wanted to take a quick minute to share some items that I don’t think we have ever shared before. The first item is this marvelous Moss lamp that we found in a Las Vegas antique store.

We had never seen this style Moss lamp before. Moss made radio lamps, clock lamps, aquarium lamps and so many other fantastic kinds of lamps. Though the lamps shade is not original it works for now. I love that aqua and gold figure, so art deco!

When we finally got back from Vegas we consulted our Schiffer “Moss Lamps Lighting The 50’s” reference book. We couldn’t find it in the book! I think that is a good thing, maybe a one off?

While in Vegas we also snagged this guy. This is a working 50’s Kenmore fan and I love the grey and aqua color scheme on it.

Next is this atomic pink fiberglass lamp with hanging planter!

We parked this lamp next to our pink frieze butterfly chair.

I found this little gem in an antique shop in San Jose California. It was hidden behind a bunch of vintage linens. When I pulled the linens back I was pleasantly surprised to find this pink 1950’s Motorola model 56L3A portable tube radio.

I found these 1940’s glass coasters on Etsy. Though they may not be politically correct they are still cool.

We have had our Grand Server for a while now and I wanted to stock the bar inside of it. I came across one of these Arrow decanters online and loved the imagery. I researched them and saw they made a few different styles. Here are some photos of the front and back of the six we acquired…

Now comes the fun part, going out and buying all the liquor to fill them.

Melody and I were at the Alameda Antique Fair in the bay and we ran into our friend Petra. We din’t manage to find a lot that day. While talking to Petra she mentioned that she had come into possession of some really cool Capri lamp shades she wanted to sell. She showed us some photos and we said YES!!!

These shades are pretty large and so cool.

These take our 1951 Regular bullfighter lamps to a whole new level!

These shades help transform our room with warm light and unique styling.

Melody and I have had this Paul Frankl floor lamp for a long time now, but we couldn’t remember if we ever shared it with you. This thing is over the top atomic. When I look at it I think of a cool cat wearing a zoot suit. We have two matching table lamps as well but I think we blogged about them already, here they are anyway.

70’s Aquatron VX-33 8 Track Stereo Tape Player With AM/FM Multiplex Radio

I came across this little gem on eBay and knew it would look fantastic with our other space age items. This is the Aquatron VX-33 which is a portable entertainment system from the 70’s and produced out of Japan.

As you can see it is very clean for how old it is.

It is all fully functional and sounds great!

This came with the original box and owners manual.

The battery compartment is clean with no corrosion.

1965 Electrohome ‘Circa 703’ cabinet by Deilcraft of Canada

Mel and I were at the Alameda Point Antiques Faire this last weekend that is held the first Sunday of every month.

There were some cool items out for sale, but we were blown away by this Electrohome unit for sale by our friend Ed. He saw our Hepcat Restorations and the recent post we did on our newly acquired “Ultra rare RCA record player, radio and cassette player“. At the bottom of that post I showcased other units I wish I could find, and this was one of them! We were so excited to see Ed had this and he brought it thinking it was something we would dig, and he was right.

They made an acompaning chair that allowed you to listen and control the music from the Circa 703, what a cool idea! I can’t imagine there are many of those chairs around now.

The designing mind behind Electrohomes Circa 75 was Gordon Duer. He was the design director and was responsible for making sure that the designs were forward thinking. They made sure to use materials that would be ultra futuristic, like plastic in all it’s forms; glossy, metalic, silver and white. The belief was that plastics would be the medium that would be used to help shape the future. On this particular unit they used their fair share of plastics, but the outer case is teak. These units sold for around $600 back in the day, which was quite an investment for that time period.

This unit is surprisingly clean for its age.

The Circa 703 has speakers in the base of the console. These satilite speakers will help fill the room with sound.

All knobs are present and accounted for!

Everything seems to work, but the record player needs a needle. The radio turns on and pulls in stations really well.

Ultra Rare RCA Record Player, Radio and Cassette Player

As always, I was skimming over Craigslist and came across this unit in Alameda, California. It had been posted for 5 days, and I figured it must have sold already. I decided to send an email anyway in hopes it was still available.

According to the research the guy did that I bought this from, he said this was produced in the 1970’s and they only manufactured 50 of these units. This makes you wonder how many are left.

This unit has a record player, radio and cassette. All three work, but the record player needs a new cartridge.

This unit even has its original microphone and stand to record.

I am a child of the 80’s, so I actually have a huge collection of cassettes.

I think it is really sleek how the record player is hidden away.

This unit produces some great sound!

The speakers are huge and sound great. I need to redo the fabric on them because the previous owner had a cat.

I plan to keep this until I fall out of love with it, which might take a while. I plan to see if my good buddy Justin from Stellar Electronics can add a jack so my iPhone can play through the unit.
