Tiki Room Is Done………For Now

IMG_1785

These cushions look great after being reupholstered by Bill at B&T Upholstery.

After a lot of work and searching for the right items the Tiki room is done. The last thing needing to be done to complete the bar was to reassemble the she stools.

These really glow now! It is amazing what some new polyurethane can do.

Once the stools were done we shot over to pick up some cool bamboo shelves that will hold the collection of tiki mugs we plan to collect.

These frame our Coaxial television perfectly.

With this new bar and shelves the room looks a lot more put together. It takes time to get things right but in the end it pays off when you see what all your hard work and searching is able to achieve. Here are some pictures of our room. The pictures tell you more then I can write. I hope you approve!

After all was done I collapsed on the 6 band and watched a true classic The Maltese Falcon. If you have never watched a classic movie on a classic television you haven’t lived. Its like being in a time warp!

Mel and I just purchased about 10 more Carlos that we will be featuring them soon and a few of them will make it into the Tiki Room. We are soo excited to get them.

More Vintage Tiki Frames Made Cool!!!

What better art to put in a Tiki room than a Tiki Mask and cool shrunken heads!

Mel & I had a couple of cool tiki frames lying around that had no art work in them. I decided that since I still have a lot of wall space to fill I would knock out some quick Tiki art to put up. These frames have a bamboo piece on the top and bottom that holds the glass and art in place. Here is a picture of the back of the frames…

I like to sketch the image out with pencil first and then outline in watercolor.

This one was cool, I loved painting the wood grain on this piece.

These will be a great addition to our Tiki room and will and some cool imagery.

Vintage Hula Girl Bamboo Curtain

This is how it looks outside the Tiki Room.

Mel and I saw this on Craigslist in Sacramento and thought it would help make the Tiki Room more secluded by separating it from our living room.

The woman Mel and I purchased this from worked in the Hawaiian travel industry and she said this was made specifically for one of the local hotels. When the hotel was renovated they acquired it. She said it is unique since it was produced just for the hotel. This thing is like 9 ft tall and almost 5 feet wide. This is a great addition to the room and really gives it a tropical feel.
