Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (minus Sneezy)

As I blogged in an earlier post, I have been in the process of restoring these vintage Disney concrete garden statues. We have all the pieces except Sneezy who was too busted up to restore. Fortunately, we found a replacement that is shipping from the east coast.

One thing I noticed when trying to stay faithful to the color scheme of each character is that there seems to be a lot of conflicting info online. I did my best to match any images I found online from the original movie. Also, I wasn’t digging just a white beard. I tried to add more detail by adding gray and white to capture a more realistic look. Here are before and after photos of some of the characters.

These pieces have started to be reproduced. They come in three different sizes: small, medium & large. Our set is original and would be considered the large set. We will be happy to complete the set once Sneezy arrives. Onto the next project!

Excuse the landscaping, we still need to work on the backyard.

50’s Sundrella Aluminum Patio Umbrella

50’s Sundrella Aluminum Patio Umbrella

Mel and I have been looking for one of these for a while. We currently have quite a few pieces of Fibrella (Set 1, Set 2) fiberglass patio furniture, but no vintage aluminum pieces…until now.

The overall umbrella is in great shape. Some of the slats need to be straightened out, but that is easy considering it is aluminum.

I plan to dismantle the umbrella and have it powder coated in pink and white. I will also replace all the hardware.

I will keep you abreast of the process once I start to restore it.

Mel and I have snatched up vintage patio/outdoor pieces for our backyard.  We have yet to revamp our backyard, but we want to have cool pieces to put back there once done.  We saw this set on eBay and thought that shipping would be ridiculous so we passed on it.

I was cruising Craigslist a few days ago and stumbled across the eBay set in Livingston California.  This was about an hour and half drive from us!  I didn’t realize that the eBay seller was so close to us.

I jumped in the truck and shot down to Livingston California.  When I arrived, I was happy I made the drive because the set was in great structural condition! There is no physical damage to any of the pieces.

I plan to keep them the same color, but all of it will need to be refinished.

We are so pleased that this set was still available.  It will pair nicely with the other Fibrella Le Barron set we picked up a while ago from our friends Donny and Romy of Donny O Antiques.

These will go in storage for now, but hopefully we will start on our backyard soon so I can refinish these and get the backyard set up for social gatherings.

Our friends Donny and Romy seem to find the coolest things. A while back they scored this patio set and were looking to sell it. Mel and I saw pics of it and we knew it must be ours.

These were the photos Donny took of them. I wanted to just do a quick post on them before I start to buff and polish them up.

Even has original tag! Can’t wait to get these done.
